For this project, our team installed a round translucent stretch ceiling with integrated LED backlighting inside a suspended gypsum light box in JLT Dubai.
The objective was to create a modern architectural lighting feature that combines clean design with functional illumination. The circular shape of the light box adds a strong visual element, while the translucent membrane provides soft, uniform light distribution without glare.

Installation Process
At the first stage, a round suspended gypsum structure was installed and carefully aligned.
The frame was designed to support integrated LED lighting and ensure even light distribution across the entire circular surface.
After installing and testing the LED system, a translucent stretch membrane was mounted.
This layer diffuses the light, creating a smooth, evenly illuminated surface with no visible hotspots.
Lighting Performance (Estimated Lux Levels)
Based on the installed LED system, layout density, and 42% light transmission of the membrane, the ceiling delivers high illumination levels on the floor.
Estimated illuminance at floor level is approximately:
• 2900 lux in the center area directly below the ceiling
• 2350 lux average across the floor area under the 4-meter light feature
This provides bright, uniform lighting suitable for both functional and architectural use.
