This project features a translucent stretch ceiling with integrated LED backlighting installed in a retail store in Dubai.
The goal was to create a warm and inviting lighting environment that enhances the shopping experience. A 3000K warm white light was selected to provide a comfortable atmosphere while maintaining sufficient illumination for a commercial space.
The lighting system operates in a simple on/off mode, ensuring reliability and ease of use.
Technical Details
• Light temperature: 3000K (warm white)

• Bulkhead depth: 100 mm
• LED spacing: 80 mm
• Membrane light transmission: 42%

Installation Process
LED strips were installed inside a gypsum bulkhead with a depth of 100 mm. The spacing between LED lines was set at 80 mm to ensure uniform light distribution across the ceiling surface.
All drivers and electrical components were integrated within the structure for a clean and concealed installation.
After testing the lighting system, a translucent stretch membrane with 42% light transmission was installed. This material diffuses the light evenly, eliminating visible hotspots and creating a smooth illuminated surface.
Lighting Performance
Due to optimized LED spacing and membrane transmission, the system delivers approximately 1500 lux on the floor level.
This level of illumination is suitable for retail environments, providing both visibility and a comfortable shopping atmosphere.
