For this project, our team installed a translucent stretch ceiling with integrated LED backlighting in a school located in Abu Dhabi.
The objective was to create bright, uniform, and comfortable lighting suitable for an educational environment. A 6000K cool white light was selected to enhance visibility, improve concentration, and provide a clean, modern appearance across the space.
The lighting system is fully dimmable via DALI control, allowing flexible adjustment of brightness depending on classroom activities and time of day.

Installation Process
Gypsum Bulkhead Construction
The first stage involved constructing a gypsum bulkhead, which serves as the structural base for the lighting system.
The bulkhead was carefully built to the required depth and geometry to ensure proper light distribution and enough space for LED installation and airflow.
LED System Installation
At this stage, waterproof LED strips (IP64) and drivers were installed inside the bulkhead.
The use of IP64-rated LEDs provides additional protection against dust and humidity, increasing the durability and reliability of the system—especially important for long-term operation in public and educational spaces.
The lighting system was designed to provide even illumination across the entire surface, avoiding visible hotspots. All components were connected to a DALI control system, enabling smooth dimming and lighting control.
Finally, the translucent stretch ceiling membrane was installed.
The membrane diffuses the LED light evenly, creating a soft, shadow-free lighting effect. The result is a clean and modern luminous ceiling that enhances both functionality and aesthetics of the space.

The completed installation delivers bright, uniform, and controllable lighting, perfectly suited for a school environment.
The combination of 6000K illumination, IP64 waterproof LED system, and DALI dimming provides flexibility, energy efficiency, and long-term reliability for students and staff.
